No work this weekend

// November 15th, 2008 // No Comments » // Dmitri's racing news, Mission Impossible : IP33/MP1

I was hoping to do some work on the car this weekend, but work has me tied up, had to go to a client’s today and I have karting tomorrow.

anyway some new thoughts, I have been thinking for a long time about dry sump and lowering the engine. I have checked it out and the engine can be lowered easily using the engine brackets. However the sump would be dangerously close to the ground. So I will in the future be planning to go dry sump and lower the engine to reduce the centre of gravity. I have already mounted the seat to the floor to get as low in the car as possible, and removed the headliner etc. with the removal of the glass in the doors and rear hatch it will also lower the c.g. we see how it goes I guess.

also on a side note, was talkin to some people today, and I am considering running rally barbados in a 4 door swift I have over there, just use the spare turbo setup I have for my car and ship it over with a cage and some tyres. Hopefully I get the sponsorship to do it.

I used to document this project here but since I have this new blog, I think it would be better documented here, where I can manage it more effectively.

Basically for those who do not know, I am transforming a cheap econobox into a full fledged race car. The vehicle of choice is a Geo Metro, they are cheap, parts are readily available, and most importantly they are lightweight.

I first started using the Geo in Dexterities, and then started entry level circuit racing at Dover Raceway in Jamaica. I am now turning the car into an all out track car.
